"The back forty" is an old farming term referring to the acreage at the back of a farm, or the wild land beyond.
We define the ‘Back 40’ as the explorable wilderness beyond the city. In Seattle, we're lucky to have two mountain ranges, a rain forest, countless rivers and lakes, coastal beaches, and even volcanoes within an easy driving distance. Whether you're a local or a tourist, we want you to be able to experience it all.
Our mission is to help you explore the outdoors in a more convenient and less intimidating way. We want you to try before you buy and feel empowered to use top quality equipment without the need to own it, maintain it, and store it.
